Vitamin B6 What is Vitamin B6?
Vitamin B6 is also known as pyridoxine, pyridoxamine and pyridoxal.
Unlike other types of vitamin B complex, vitamin B6 does not directly participate in production of energy or is not involved in making nucleic acid.
However, as an important substance for protein metabolism, pyridoxal phosphate (PLP) performs the function of coenxyme in more than 100 effect reactions.
In addition, even though vitamin B6 is soluble, the considerable amount is combined with glycogen phosphorylase in the muscles. Therefore, most of vitamin B6 exists in muscles, while the very small amount exists in liver and plasma.
In many cases, people today suffer from the deficiency of vitamin B6 due to irregular schedule and food with much carbohydrate. Therefore, it requires for the intake of supplements.
